Everything you need to know about Impulse, motion capture, and the future of choreography.
Impulse is a plug-in for Unreal Engine that simplifies the motion capture workflow for choreographers. It requires a motion capture solution and a computer that can run Unreal Engine smoothly.
No. Impulse uses motion capture to record dancer movements and then apply them to multiple digital bodies. All the movement on this website was recorded with paid dancers. We believe in multiplying human creativity, not replacing it.
Impulse is a plug-in for Unreal Engine—think of it like an app or layer that supports the main software. You will download Unreal Engine (which is free) and then purchase a license for Impulse to unlock our choreographer-specific tools.
Impulse supports Mac and Windows computers and currently requires Unreal Engine 5.8. If Unreal Engine runs smoothly on your computer, Impulse should too.
For the best experience with Impulse, we recommend:
Mac: Apple M3 processor or newer with at least 16 GB of RAM
Windows: Quad-core Intel or AMD processor running at 2.5 GHz or faster, at least 32 GB of RAM, and a DirectX 12-compatible graphics card with at least 8 GB of graphics memory
You’ll also need at least 50 GB of available storage to complete the installation. Mac users will need Xcode as well.
Our Mac Setup Assistant will guide you through the installation process. Windows users receive a step-by-step setup guide.
